[{"text":"The Doctor takes Bill to the future to show her a human colony, but when they arrive there are no settlers present - only the emojibots, and the swarms of nanobot Vardies. "},{"spoiler":"Light"},{"image":[{"src":"in-510681in-the-f.jpg"},{"caption":"In the Forest of the Night (2014)"}]},{"text":"#NL#"Smile" was written by Frank Cottrell-Bryce, author of the 2012 Olympic Ceremony, and who previously wrote the divisive episode "In The Forest of the Night." #NL#This episode is, unfortunately, not likely to redeem his reputation, as the story starts off very slowly, with an ending that feel rushed and very simplistic. "},{"image":[{"src":"pla630431planet.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"text":"#NL#Certain aspects of the episode are impressive: The beautiful Valencia City of Arts and Sciences perfectly transforms into the colonists city; and the scientific aspects are well thought out, in the best traditions of Classic Who, with the Vardies named after robotics consultant Andrew Vardy."},{"image":[{"src":"min240240mina-anw.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"image":[{"src":"ral249642ralf-lit.jpg"},{"caption":""}]},{"text":"#NL#Unfortunately much of the episode seems to be The Doctor and Bill wondering around an alien city, which seems curiously old-fashioned compared to most of the fast-paced episodes of modern Who. #NL#Guest stars Mina Anwar and Ralf Little were on screen for literally minutes, seeming like a wasted opportunity. What did you think of "Smile" ?"}]
